End of the Turn Report

End of Turn Report:
Turn 1 was bloody for some, but joyous for others. Stuck in a war on three fronts the Sword of Macragge was forced to fall back, consolidate forces, and close fronts before their thinly spread lines collapsed. The signing of the "Fox Bay Treaty" Stipulated the end of aggressions between the Sword of Macragge, Imperial Judgement, and Blood Bath. At home the Sword of Macragge fought a zero sum game, gaining one tile from the tyranids, but loosing another in the process. In the North neighbors of the Imperial Guard Joint Strike Force experienced peace, even along the boarder with the tyranids. After a botched invasion of the Sword of Macragge and a crushing defeat at the talons of the tyranids, Blood Bath falls back to lick its wounds. The month of February proved challenging, but with a little luck, reinforcements will arrive for the battered forces without incident.

Deployment
Blood Bath 2nd Company

Tyranid Western Strike Force

Turn 1: Let the Onslaught Begin
The first turn depended entirely on the Blood Bath 2nd Company being able to levy enough fire to stop the front lines of the Tyranids from reaching the front lines of their own troops. As luck and the forces of fate would have it, they could not. The quick moving Tyranids flew across the field, sucessfully dodging the majority of the 2nd Company's shots. The Assault phase would let the 2nd Company know the price for poor aim.
The Fronts Prepare to Meet
Blood Bath Losses: 1 Vindicator, 1 Death Company, 1 Death Company Dreadnaught
Tyranid Losses: 1 Gargoyle, 4 Genestealers

Turn 2: "Too Many Wounds to Save... even for you."
This marked the turning point in the battle, already the Tyranids had pushed through the forward most units, this time the would solidify their victory. Killing an entire Tactical Squad which had been blinded by acid from the Biotitan as well as a second Vindicator the lines would not stop, they pressed onward killing any brave or stupid enough to stand in their way. The end was upon the 2nd Company before the beginning had come to a close.
The Right Flank is Broken
Turn 3: "All Units Fall Back!"
Turn Three all Blood Bath forces that could reach the edge of the battle field while the brave crew of the Storm Raven attempted rescue of those that could not. The biotitan did not let this go unnoticed, shooting down the Storm Raven, the terminators inside, and the Dreadnaught on the back. The Terminators survived the crash, only to meet a gruesome death at the hands of the Genestealer swarms below. The Dreadnaught, much luckier, managed to retreat to safety.
Last Stand of the Terminators

Final Results: The Blood Bath 2nd Company was smart to retreat, preserving the majority of their forces as the Tyranids advanced onward to a sweeping victory.
The Battle Space is Cleared

Sword of Macragge Deployment

Turn 1: "A Critical Error Was Made"
The Sword Of Macragge Remains Consolidated
Deployment proved to be the death sentence for this battle. At 3:1 odds, the Sword of Macragge deployed themselves inside their outpost and held this position. This proved to be a problem for the spread out line of Blood Bath. With Ordinance raining down upon them, the slow moving Blood Angels Moved across the battlefield in an attempt to make it to the front lines of the outpost.  This however proved to be the bloodiest disadvantage for the larger forces. This was well noted by the Sword of Macragge Commanders...

Sword of Macragge Losses: 0
Blood Bath Losses: 1 Vindicator

Turn 2: "Deep Strike or Shallow Strike?"
Blood Bath Reserves Go Poorly
The Second turn revealed the second error for the troops of the 1st Company. The Sword of Macragge had deployed signal jammers, this forced the reserves attempting deep strike to be redeployed elsewhere... this caused more Blood Angels to walk toward their target under the shelling of the Defenders of Humanity. This Turn Proved to be even bloodier.

Sword of Macragge Loses: 0
Blood Bath Losses: Terminator Squad, Terminator Squad, Sanguinary Priest, Vindicator, Terminator Captain

Turn 3: "Dealers of Death"

Finally when it seemed that Blood Bath would deal no damage to the Defenders of Humanity, the Death Company Arrived in their Storm Raven Gunship and the Slaughter began. This forced the Sword of Macragge to request air support from another sector in the form of a Storm Eagle Gunship.

The Death Company Assault on the Trench

The Trench is Cleared
Sword of Macragge Losses:  Devastator Squad and Imperial guard Veteran Squad
Blood Bath Losses: 0

Turn 4: "BRING IT DOWN"
The final turn brought death to the Blood Angels in a terrible fashion.  Artillery and Air Support from the Sword of Macragge Sealed the fate of the battle, destroying the Death Company along with a grand majority of the remaining Blood Bath Forces. At the end of the turn quarters was given to a retreating Blood Bath 1st Company.

Carnage from Avove
End Results:
In a stunning and staggering victory by the Sword of Macragge, the Blood Bath 1st Company is forced into a full scale retreat to friendly territory. This is not without its cost to the Sword of Macragge. With most of its infantry destroyed, the remaining forces on this outpost are less than capable of pursuing or pressing an attack.

Battle Report: "To Those About to Die."

2/14/13
Mission Details:  With Guilliman's Fist's Victory in the North, the South is faced with the repercussions. The Tyranid threat invade the Sword of Macragge in the sector from whence they launched their attack. A small garrison force called "Indomitable" stands between the Sword of Macragge and the Jaws of the Hive Mind. Can they hold their ground?

In Game Turn Times: 1 Turn = 1 hour

4 Vanguard Veterans
1 Relic Whirlwind
1 Stormraven
1 Stormtalon

Imperial Guard: Lord Commissar Sara Goldstien

Frontline Assets Deployed: Void Shield Generators (6)

1 x (2)  Zoanthrope Brood
2 Carnifex
2 Trygons Prime
1 (20) Gargoyle Brood
1 Flying Hive Tyrant "Steve"
1 Hierophant Biotitan

Battlefield Assets Deployed: Tunnels (3)

Deployment:
The Tyranids absorb the space on their side of the battle space. Mean while the Space Marines Garrison a ruined bunker and the Vostroyans guard the outpost.  The Basilisk and Whirlwind deploy far back, hoping to make the most of their range.

The First Hour:  "Shields Have Been Breached"
Within the first hour the tunnels dug by the tyranids become obvious and the ever encroaching Tyranid line approaches the outer boundary of the Void Shields. In order to save the Ordinance, The Relic Whirlwind and Basilsik are moved away from tunnel entrances. The rest of the Battle Group Indomitable prepares for attack while long range Lascannons and mortars are levied into the Tyranid lines, hoping to thin them... unfortunately shaky hands cause this attempt to be ineffective.
The Tyranid Right Flank Approaches the Shield.
The Central Shield is breached
Tyranid Losses: 0
Space Marine Losses: 0
Imperial Guard Losses: 0

The Second Hour: "A Rain of Bullets and Blood"
The second hour rained blood. The Space Marines begin to fall back to defend the bastion, firing all the while. They kill 7 Genestealers. Is this enough? Air Support arrives as Storm Raven and Storm Talon arrive to combat the tyranids breaking through the eastern shield. As the swarms advance on their position the question for the Librarian isn't "can we win?", but rather instead "can we survive?" In order to preserve the artillery, the Librarian orders their immediate retreat. The Basilisk and the Whirlwind leave the battlespace as ordered, leaving behind the men they were to protect. The Air support on the Eastern front has been effective in killing a Carnifex and the Hive Tyrant. These heavy flyers had only begun to do damage when the Hive Mind judged their time over. No sooner did they arrive then did they find themselves under heavy, unforgiving, and lethal fire of the Biotitan.

The Space Marines Fire into the Swarms

Air Support Arrives

The Death of the Air Support
Tyranid Losses: 1 Flying Hive Tyrant, 1 Carnifex, 7 Genestealers
Space Marine Losses: 1 Storm Raven Gunship, 1 Storm Tallon Gunship.
Space Marine Evacuations: 1 Relic Whirlwind
Imperial Guard Losses: 0
Imperial Guard Evacuations: 1 Basilisk Artillery Piece

The Third Hour: "A Choice to be Made"
In the third hour, the hard choices had to be made. The Librarian called for an immediate evacuation of the remaining guardsmen. But how could they be evacuated from the outpost? How could the Valkyrie have a secure loading zone? His only option became clear... in order to save the 15 guardsmen in the bastion, in order to prevent the outpost from being overrun too quickly... he and his squad must stay behind. The Tyranids closed in.  The rear guard had been set.
A Fateful Choice at a Critical Time

The Imperial Guard Evacuate

Tyranid Losses: 0
Space Marine Losses: 1 Veteran
Space Marine Evacuations: 0
Imperial Guard Losse: 0
Imperial Guard Evacuations: 1 Command Squad, 1 Veteran Squad

The Final Hour: "The Last Stand of the Rear Guard"
It was the end of the line for those who stayed behind. In one final stand, the rear guard defended their evacuating comrades. They placed the trackers on their targets and perished with honor. In their final stand they killed 18 Gargoyles before falling to the hands of the genestealers.
The Final Push

The Desperate last kills

A Hero's Gruesome Death
Final Results: Sweeping Tyranid Victory. Despite some extremely tactical moves by the space marines, the Tyranids painted them into a corner and forced a rear guard scenario. Tyranids, in addition to an overwhelming army, fielded their strategic assets well. The Heroes who attempted to stop the sweeping power of this tyranid invasion will forever be remembered.

Awards Given: "Outstanding Moral Fiber" to the Space Marine Veterans and their Librarian for their self-sacrifice to protect the guardsmen.

1 X (1) Flying Hive Tyrant
2 X (1) Trygon Primes
4 X (10) Gargoyle Brood
1 X (3) Biovore Brood

Deployment:

The Marines entered Tyranid territory with caution... to their front was a ridge and who knew what lurked behind it.
(The Space Marine Heavy Corp Deploys)

The Tyranids were not so careful... they owned this land and it appeared to them that lunch had been delivered.
(The Tyranid Initial Wave)
The First Hour: "Over the Ridge"
In the midst of a fine Falkland Morning the battle group called Guilliman's Fist, in honor of their Prime-arch,  set up a defense against a hill, their eyes set to the ridge beyond, not knowing the horrors that awaited them there. It would not be long before they knew. The Tyranids advanced in never ending waves upon the  The initial assault would cost the marines serious damage to their transports. Tyrannofex fired deadly blasts onto the Rhinos, the only thing keeping the space Marines inside from the claws of the terrors of the enclosing brood.  Without a second thought as soon as range was had on the massive swarms, the Broadsword Fellhammer levied is fire into the enclosing broods. Killing many...but would it be enough? Not if the Tervigon has a say in the matter...

Space Marine Losses:  0
Tyranid Losses: 25 Hormagants
(The Wave Advances over the Ridge)
The Second Hour: "Do we Have Enough Ammo?"
In the second hour the Hive Mind had its targets, levying fire upon the transports and superheavies alike.  Damage was done. The transports wavered under the fire. Even the mightly Fellhammer was in danger. But the Marines did not fear, for the Emperor Protects... and so too does the Fellhammer's Vulcan Megabolter. Again the fire was intense as hoards of the tyranids front lines fell. Despite the success... the gunner wondered to himself... "do we have enough ammo?"
Space Marine Losses: 1 Rhino Transport
Tyranids: 12 Hormagaunts.

The Third Hour: "Hell from Below"
In the third hour the hoards decended upon those that had to abandon their transport. The Hormagaunts killed 7 of the Marines that managed to escape the burning wreckage. One Marine was lost in the death of the Rhino.  The Marines fought back and forced the Hormagaunts off before killing the rest of them. The terrors did not end there.  Two Trygons emerged from the deep and brought with them the dooms of many others. The Genestealers emerge behind the tyranids and behind them the hells of the raveners.
(Hell Emerges from Below)
Space Marine Losses: 8 Tactical Marines, 1 Centurion
Tyranids: 2 Tyrannofexes, 15 Hormagaunts.

The Final Hour: "The Decisive Moment"
Air Support has arrived. The Storm Raven and Storm Talon levy an unbelievable amount of fire into the rear lines killing the Tervigon and the Zoanthropes. The Psychic Shreak from their death, kill all but 4 Hormagaunts. The Trygons are killed by Centurions and by another tactical marine squad. The Hive mind is angered by the loss of biomass. It takes aim and kills three more space marines, but it focuses most of its effort on taking out the largest destroyer of biomass... the Fellhammer. 30 Genestealers emerge from the ground and swarm the Fellhammer ripping the armor to shreds with rending claws. Ultimately the Tyranids retreat to consolidate their forces for the next round.

Final Results: Sound Victory for the Sword of Macragge. While the loss of the Fellhammer was a devistating loss for the Campaign of the Sword of Macragge, the loss of Tyranids that day made the victory pretty sound. The true question shall be whether or not the losses on the side of the Space Marines will at all damage their ability to hold off the swarms festering in the north...

Well Done Space Marines.

Falkland Campaign Opening Moves

The Armies have landed and laid their claims on the Falkland Islands. From left to right:

- Imperial Judgement with Nine Territories
- Bloody Orks with Nine Territories
- Sword of Macragge with Fourteen Territories
- The Tyranid Infestation with Eight Territories
- The Imperial Joint Strike Force with Ten Territories

Follow the initial land grabs the Armies declared their opening moves in a round robin approach. Each team rolled off... The Sword of Macragge got to declare who they were attacking first.

The Sword of Macragge started by assaulting the Tyranid Infestation directly. The Tyranids weren't going to be so easily out maneuvered though, immediately attacking the territory the the Sword of Macragge had just departed from. The Tyranids also follow this up by pushing into Bloody Ork Territory. Will the troops left behind able to defend the territory? Will the Orks and Blood Angels be able to stop the Tyranid Menace?

Meanwhile on the Western Island the Bloody Orks and forces of Imperial Judgement had decided to launch a combined assault to push the Sword of Macragge off the Island. Will this uneasy alliance last? or will joint struggle and camaraderie bind the alliance more?

The Imperial Guard Joint Strike Force made no moves on their Tyranid Neighbors.
Does the Bear and Wolf slumber or will it awaken an carve a bloody path of destruction through the Falkland Islands?

At the Dawn of War

2/2/14

This week is the official launch of the Campaign. We have made it through the madness that was the preparation, construction, Army Building, and pre-game. Now it is time to launch our 6 month campaign.  February 3rd- Final Army Lists are due by 11:59 pm.  February 4th- Begins Turn 1!

How The Turn Rotations work:
The 3rd of Every Month is Army List Update/Upgrade Day- Points earned in the previous turn will be used to call in reinforcements, upgrade warlords, and purchase off map assets for the next turn. At this point Units that were entirely wiped out may be repurchased.  This is the end of the turn so the Map will be updated and tiles will be declared under the control of the dominant force. If a battle is scheduled after this day, it will be considered a battle in the next turn. Points will be awarded on this day.

The 4th of Every Month is Turn Launch- On the Launch day of each turn, unoccupied spaces can be claimed and new units may be used to declare movement to or invasion of unoccupied or enemy controlled tiles.

The Rest of the Month- The Rest of the month battles will be scheduled and fought. There is no limit to how many times an army can clash on one tile, so an entire month may be devoted to a slug-match over certain tiles that provide a unique position.
